Abstract

The analysis of OKD branch surroundings contains the proposals and recommendations in the area of business strategy of the company. It describes the branch surroundings of the coal mining industry in the Czech Republic in the frame of Porter model. The thesis analyses the status of hard coal industry in the Czech Republic in connection with OKD, a.s. and the factors which influence it. Further, the thesis mainly deals with the social, economic and political factors. Finally, the thesis dedicates to the analysis of the significance of the key players in the coal market in Europe. It determines the strength of the relations between suppliers and customers, the strength of the threats and the barriers of entry into the industry. It suggests the measures and recommendations for OKD, a.s. to be still a successful company.
