Abstract
Fires of flammable liquids that are caused by spontaneous combustion are often not recorded, yet such fires should be given some attention. Understanding of this phenomenon is complicated by the fact that it occurs in various materials, solids and fluids, but also in various suitable conditions in which spontaneous combustion occurs.
In the theoretical part of my thesis some cases of major fires that were caused by spontaneous combustion are introduced. The spontaneous combustion in general is analyzed here and also the procedure of two test methods by which the susceptibility to spontaneous combustion of fluids is evaluated.
In the practical part the rated liquids and the description of the measurement process are mentioned. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the tendency of selected oils to spontaneous combustion and to compare the results of the two different methods in terms of the use for evaluation of liquid tendency to spontaneous combustion.
