Život a odkaz Alexandra von Humboldta

Abstract

Notable German naturalist and explorer Alexander von Humboldt, is not too well known in Bohemia. In school we learned about the Humboldt Current, bathed South America and maybe all we have seen in a zoo penguin Humboldt. However, this knowledge of most people ends. But Humboldt influenced the fate of many people, his discovery ways and his books, describing the experience, nature, and scientific research. He corresponded with many experts from different disciplines, was friends with philosophers, poets, politicians and scientists from around the World. To our motherland Humboldt had a very friendly relationship, he lived especially in the North Bohemia. He loved Czech Middlemountains and spa town Teplice. This thesis tries to comprehend the personality of this ingenious naturalist, his journey and the legacy to future generations.
