Abstract

This diploma thesis deals with the area of combined surface treatment of tool steels. The introduction is dedicated to describe basic groups of tool steels and their degradation processes which they encounter during service. The main attantion is focused on QRO90 Supreme tool steel. Thesis summarizes benefits and use of this steel in work field. Next part iscommited to surface treatment, namely laser quenching and plasma nitriding. Emphasis is placed on the benefits of these technologies and the principles on which they function. The practical part focuses on the development of microstructure and hardness, depending on the type of surface treatment used. Individual technologies are combined and subsequently evaluated for the best surface outcome. Tribological research based on the PINon-DISC method was also performed on the samples. The result of the study is the evaluation of all tested samples and the assessment of the most appropriate method.
