Abstract
Not only does the open-pit coal mining have the positive economical benefits, but also brings lots of adverse effects, such as the landcape devastation. The indivisible part of the coal mining is the subsequent recultivation of devastated areas. The recultivation's main target is the creation of a new landscape which would comply with the public and economic interests. It should satisfy the economical aspects, especially of agriculture and forestry, and it has to lead to a renewal of primal natural landscape function.
The new landscape creation is a long-term and considerably complicated process whereat many interests and needs should have been made provision for, but first of all it has to be acted upon the valid permissions and valid legislation. I have taken the above attributes into account in my bachelor's diploma thesis "The subsequent recultivation of the Letiste dump" and updated it with my findings and experiences.
