Abstract

This diploma thesis is focused on the characterisation and evaluation of biocenosis of activated sludge from small domestic wastewater treatment plants. Furthermore, it deals with the description and morphological assessment of activated sludge flocs. The thesis also describes the wastewater treatment process and related applicable legislation for running of small domestic wastewater treatment plants. The experimental part of the thesis describes the method of sample processing, sample collection, the procedure of preparing preparations and the assessment of prepared activated sludge samples. Lastly, individual samples are assessed.
