Determinanty urban sprawl ve vybraných okresech České republiky

Abstract

The subject of interest of this thesis is the issue of urban sprawl, one of the forms of suburbanization, which, however, has far-reaching consequences in terms of ecological, urban and, last but not least, economic ones. The aim of this work is to identify the determinants of urban sprawl in selected districts of the Czech Republic. This goal was met using estimation of a monocentric city model on collected data by using a panel data analysis of selected districts in the Czech Republic with population density of over 116 inhabitants/km2 in 2010-2019. The results of the work correspond to the results of other authors who were working with monocentric city model recently. Determinants that affect urban sprawl based on the analaysis are population size, average gross wage and commuting costs represented by the density of roads and highways, respectively, proximity index of municipalities.
