Abstract

The beginning of the thesis tries to describe the basic differences between a router and switch. And, in the functionality of layers of reference model ISO-OSI. Thanks to the aforementioned description is then generally desrcibe L3 switch and explained the example of motivation, it was founded. As a specific option was chosen the Cisco Catalyst 3560, which is then described in more details and presented its functions, of which three were selected for further description. The first function describes the Power over Ethernet. Here, in addition to the basic characteristics are describe as the process of making connections and performance class selection. For a practical demonstration has been chosen EnergyWise system, which was tested for the Power over Ethernet in real engagement. As the second feature was selected set of prioritization frameworks for 2. Layer of ISO-OSI. To better understand the function has been described the third option of setting layer as well. In practical circuit is shown the relationship between the function 2. and 3. layers, and discussed the possibility of simple basic configuration. The last function to describe and practical demonstration was selected Private VLAN, which addresses the possibility to control access to the network as service of 2. layer of ISO-OSI.
