Abstract

This thesis studies the use of waste ground coffee for the removal of Cr(VI), sorption process. In the theoretical part describes the present status. Then the process is described sorption, adsorption conditions, characteristics of the sorbent and chromium chemistry. The experimental part focuses on the removal of chromium in oxidation state VI by sorption from the aqueous solution using a waste of ground coffee which has been activated with hydrochloric acid (HCl) of 0,1 mol/l and 1,0 mol/l. For comparison was used non-activated waste of ground coffee. Selected were two input model solutions with concentrations of 100 mg/l and 200 mg/l. The highest removal efficiency of Cr(VI) was observed on sorbent from grain size fraction <0,5 mm, with a contact time of 40 min, the activation of 1,0 mol/l HCl solution and the input model 100 mg/l.At this time, the removal efficiency of 100 % with resulting adsorption capacity q40 = 5 mg/l.
