Abstract

This bachelor thesis focuses on recycling processes aboard the International Space Station placed at lower Earth orbit and other information about this unique facility. It covers currently undergoing recycling processes as well as those planned in near future or ideas that could significantly simplify long space travel in future. The thesis focuses on facilities like Urine processor assembly, Water processor assembly, the overall Water production system and technologies quick and easy water purity testing. It also covers problematics of oxygen production aboard the ISS and possible processing of the waste produced during the oxygen production. There are also mentioned ways of recycling plastic in space as well as it explains the principles of performing basic separation procedures in microgravity.
