Abstract

In this bachelor diploma work the topic of a ductile iron, alias spheroidal graphite cast iron in generally is analysed. But there can be also found an accession to different types of graphite and its form, while an attention was paid mainly to lamellar and spheroidal graphite. Other important sections are the crystallization of a ductile iron, its chemical composition, manufacturing technology with a focus on seeding (vaccination) and graphite modification, alloying ductile iron, and finally, the heat treatment of ductile iron castings. Inherently to the theme of a ductile iron are bound mechanical properties of castings and applications of ductile iron castings, so it is possible to found in this study also a basic standardized types of ductile iron castings and their real practical applications.
