Abstract
This bachelor’s thesis analyzes the impact of minimalism on the development of Google’s logo. The aim of the study was to examine how respondents perceive minimalist elements in Google's logo and to identify the relationship between a preference for minimalist design and logo evaluation. The research utilized a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, specifically a questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews with respondents from different age groups, professional backgrounds, and genders. The theoretical part of the thesis provides a detailed overview of the principles and history of minimalism in graphic design, emphasizing its specific applications in logo design. The practical part evaluates respondents' attitudes toward historical and contemporary versions of Google’s logo, with particular attention to how minimalist elements affect their brand perception. The research findings revealed that respondents associated the minimalist logo with modernity, professionalism, and credibility. Additionally, differences were observed in perceptions of minimalism based on respondents’ age, gender, and professional background. The thesis provides recommendations for employing minimalism in logo design, emphasising colour and simplicity as key aspects of brand identity, enabling companies to communicate their identity and values more effectively to customers.
