Abstract

The thesis provides a comprehensive economic overview of primary and secondary aluminium production. It covers the whole production chain as well as the production and selling price drivers. It compares different manufacturing processes used from the technological and economic point of view. An assessment of potential savings stemming from the secondary aluminium usage completes the manufacturing process analysis. Three base scenarios were considered for aluminium alloy production: purely primary aluminium or secondary aluminium, and the combination of the two.
