Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of global security. Matters of security concern developing as well as developed countries. Developing countries face many different security risks and challenges while at the same time influenceing the security of developed countries. Due to the size of this subject the author focused on the security of developing countries with the emphasis on non military security factors. It aims to specify all these factors in developing countries, especially in Africa. Security is not an isolated field. All subjects in the international arena are linked to security. One of them are international organisations who play an important role in managing all kinds of security problems. The whole work is dividend into five chapters including introduction and conclusion. The second chapter is an explanation of important terms when dealing with global security; such as security, security risk, threat to security, peace and war in security context etc. It includes the traditional approaches to security which are formed maily by the relationship between states – in other words by the security cooperation among states. In addition the third chapter describes non-military security factors. Developing countries are often epicentres of security threats and they also consistently lie in global disbalance among the countries of the world. The actors of global security are mainly represented by international organisations. United Nations is an important actor of global problems solving. Purpose of this organization is a maintenance of komplex global secruity while using military and non-military tools. The United Nations and the EU tries to protect world peace and they contribute to world security. The supranational organisation of NATO is one of the leaders in guaranting global security too. All these supranational organisations in cooperation with regional organisations convey their message thoughout their projects such as Country Programme Zambia, Conflict Prevention and Peace Building. They are focused on protecting and ensuring world security.
