Abstract

This bachelor thesis focuses on the process of surface treatment of composites before bonding. At the beginning of the work there is a search for information dealing with the topic of composites, then the work discusses the theory of bonding and the actual testing of bonded joints. The work also describes various surface treatment technologies used for composites before bonding. The second part of the work documents an experiment of laser surface treatment on a composite before bonding. The types of bonded joint failures are documented and assessed here. Finally, an evaluation of the shear strength test of bonded joints is performed, which were surface-treated by laser and grinding, which served as a control set to compare the result of surface treatment technology.
