Abstract
This thesis presents a summary of the basic electrical faults that affect the construction and operation of equipment in the power system. It also examines electrical protections, their classification according to various criteria, and a basic description of the functional principle of some selected types of protections. The topics and use of the IEC61850 protocol are described together with a brief content of the standard. Finally, it discusses the technologies used in the practical part of this work. About the PLC AXC F2152 that was used to read variables from the REF630 protection with the application of Straton and PLCnext Engineer. This is followed by instructions for establishing communication between PLCnext Engineer and Straton, together with instructions for reading the current state of the protection using an IEC61850 client with visualisation in PLCnext Engineer. It also provides instructions for working in the SCL editor included with Straton.
