Abstract

Most region as the central part of the North Bohemian lignite basin is known as a region most stricken by the lignite mining. Concurrently with the mining activity there have been vast recultivations of the area since 1950s connected with creation of a significant number of anthropogenic lands that nowadays occupy more than a third of this region. It is no more possible to view the Most region as a moon-like landscape devastated by the lignite mining, it should be seen as an area where the most of the lignite dumps have been recultivated and the impact of the mining process has been effaced. My diploma thesis describes and evaluates the historical and scientific development of the recultivations and effacing of the mining impact from 50s of the last century up to the current modern trends and scientific methods with a focus on the acquirement of the analytic survey - to what extent is the recultivated landscape ecologically stable and functional. Last not least it focuses on detection of how the recultivated area is connected to the socioeconomic structure of the Most region in terms of utilizing of the human resources of the local inhabitants.
