Abstract
This diploma thesis was focused on the evaluation of microstructure and chemical composition of dissimilar metal welds used in nuclear power plants. In the theoretical part there were presented characteristics of individual materials, which participate on dissimilar metal welds, i.e. carbon steels, austenitic stainless steels and filler materials. Methods of welding steels were studied. Further there were discussed issues of dissimilar metal welds alone: welding options, degradation and damage. In the practical part there were analyzed two dissimilar metal welds. A metallographic study was performed on them. The microhardness was measured along three lines across the weld interface, where energy dispersive X-ray analysis was also performed to estimate the phase composition of the analyzed sites.
