Abstract
This bachelor thesis focuses on the issue of the circular economy in the aviation industry and its
application aimed at extending the aircraft life cycle. As an industry, aviation faces increasing pressure
to reduce its environmental footprint, while sector-specific factors, such as strict safety certifications
and the use of advanced composite materials, pose a significant challenge to the implementation
of circular principles. The aim of the thesis is to analyze and compare the approaches of two key groups
of stakeholders: aircraft manufacturers and airlines. The theoretical part defines regulatory
frameworks and barriers to the recycling of specific materials. Subsequently, the practical part maps
specific manufacturer strategies in the fields of eco-design and recycling, and examines the operational
measures of air carriers focused on the maintenance and refurbishment of components. The
conclusion of the thesis evaluates the current state of implementation of these principles and identifies
the potential for further sustainability development in aviation.
