Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with the study of ultrasonic indications occurrence in the wind power plant's main shaft. The shaft was forged from low-alloyed chromium-molybdenum 42CrMo4 steel. Cerium and nickel were added into steel for purpose to achieve better structural and mechanical properties. Two samples were taken from the area of ultrasonic indications and used for experiment. A control chemical analysis was performed on these samples by optical emission spectrometry. Detailed evaluation of the microstructure of the samples was carried out by light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Based on the achieved results, the cause of ultrasonic indications occurrence were non-metallic inclusions, which are originating from the primary steelmaking process.
