Komparace a zhodnocení disparit v regionech NUTS II ve Španělsku a Portugalsku v kontextu politiky soudržnosti EU

Abstract

The main objective of the EU Cohesion policy is to reduce and balance the regional disparities and thus contribute to higher competitiveness of the regions and whole national economy. The goal of this diploma thesis is to analyze, compare and evaluate the disparities in NUTS II regions in Spain and Portugal in the context of the EU Cohesion policy for the period 2002–2014 using the selected quantitative methods. The thesis hypothesis was stated that regional disparities in Spain and Portugal were reduced in the years 2002–2014. Defined hypothesis was confirmed, although regional disparities have persisted between individual NUTS II regions in Spain and Portugal. It can be stated regional disparities have been reduced in many areas that has a positive impact on the overall development of the countries in the economic, social and territorial sphere.
