Abstract
Oil is a strategic resource for mankind, it has a significant impact on the world economy and politics. This dissertation describes the contemporary supply and demand situation on the world oil market. It assesses the demand and supply shaping factors on this type of market. One part of this dissertation includes the summary of historical events which affected the crude oil market and the evaluation of current situation focused on the oil price development. Work is indicating the potential crude oil development by using available data.
