Abstract
In this thesis, I study the effects of electric traction on the electric insulation. The aim of this work is to determine the theoretical findings of the selected topic of the thesis and to carry out practical measurements of the selected object. The paper describes the protective measures that lead to the reduction of stray currents. It also describes the issue of the application of active protection against the effects of stray current in the terms of protection of reinforced concrete structures.
The first part of the thesis describes the basic concepts of electrical engineering in transport, traction power supply, return lines, natural flow patterns, corrosion of steel reinforcement in concrete, possible ways of stray currents restrictions and some possible solutions to how to limit stray currents.
The second part contains a description of protective measures against electrochemical corrosion caused by stray currents. It is vital that the set of given protective measures is carried out in accordance with the relevant IEC standards relating to matters of traction devices.
Third and fourth part of the thesis give description of the work and data collected at the converting substation Vresina. The evaluation of the elements measured is given in the conclusion.
