Abstract

The diploma thesis deals with the chemical characterization of friction layer, generated on surface of friction materials during friction test by using the glow discharge optical emission spectrometry (GDOES). To characterize the chemical composition of friction layer, there were defined premises related to chemical composition of this layer, based on chemical composition of certain brake pairs and known formation mechanism of friction layer. These were evaluated by profile analysis GDOES. Using the profile analysis, thicknesses of friction layers were estimated. For chosen brake discs these results were compared with results obtained by method scanning electron microscopy coupled with X-ray microanalysis (SEM-EDX). In this thesis, there were also compared wear of used friction materials depending on their prices.
