Abstract
This diploma thesis is focused on luminescence properties of cerium oxide nanoparticles. The aim of the thesis was characterize samples of cerium oxide nanoparticles, which were synthesized at different calcination temperatures, measure luminescence spectra and analyze the influence of experimental conditions on the measurement of luminescence spectra. Particle size distribution (dynamic light scattering method) and optical absorbance (diffuse reflection spectroscopy method) were measured as part of nanoparticle characterization. Fluorescence emission spectra were measured to study the luminescence properties of cerium oxide nanoparticles. Differences in the measured fluorescence spectra were observed with respect to the conditions of preparation of nanoparticles. Next the influence of the weight of the measured sample on the intensity of radiation and the stability of the particles in a given time period was observed.
