Abstract

This work was aimed to determine the bubble coalescence in aqueous solutions of inorganic electrolytes, influence of coalescence on the hydrodynamic parameters of high-volume devices and determining the physical-chemical properties of electrolyte solutions. Determination of bubble coalescence has been done on original apparatus based on two capillaries placed in the holder points against each other. Bubble coalescence decreased with increasing concentration of the solution. The bubble coalescence significantly decreases after reaching a transition concentration of electrolytes. The transition concentration was calculated from graphical dependence of coalescence on the concentration. On the high-volume apparatus, which was an airlift reactor with internal circulation loop in this case, was observed the effect of coalescence on the hydrodynamic parameters of reactor. It was found that the gas hold-up in reactor is influenced by bubble coalescence and concentration of solution. From physical-chemical properties were determined surface tension, viscosity of solution, density, pH and electrical conductivity. These properties were evaluated in the grapical dependency on the concentration and character of solution.
