Abstract
This thesis deals with the shape optimization of a part for large format 3D printing to avoid defects such as part detachment from the printing bed, wall collapse, etc. An introductory theoretical section will summarize what a 3D/FDM printer is, why and what materials are commonly used, and what modification methods are recommended for plastic parts. The practical part deals with testing the modification on the parts, how the parts behave when printing and after the part has cooled down. This knowledge is then applied to an already printed part that has not been properly optimised and has been deformed. These modifications will increase the strength of the finished part and prevent deformation during printing.
