Abstract

Goal of this thesis work is a creation of the laboratory task with use of the feeder protection relay ABB REF630. The protection is situated at the laboratory EB015 in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science which is part of VŠB – TUO. In the theory part there is a basic division of electrical protections, next there is a description of common faults appearing on overhead lines and their solving. Special space is dedicated to the automatic recloser and the fault locator. Thesis also contains a description of the protection REF630, a configuration of the protection for the laboratory task and a connection of the protection to the physical model of a feeder at the laboratory. The practical part of the thesis refers to the creation of the laboratory task in which students will measure values of short-circuit currents at the laboratory model and compare those values with theoretical calculations. They will also write down fault distances evaluated by the protection and they will also compare them with calculations. Additional tasks are a measuring of the dependence of short-circuit currents on the earth resistance and the influence of the fault resistance on the accuracy of the fault distance evaluation. In the sample protocol at the end of the work there are tables with measured and calculated values for all parts of the laboratory task.
