Abstract

The aim of this thesis is to create a clear procedure for designing very high voltage system towers. Selected steel lattice tower is assessed in accordance with this procedure. In addition to the normal load, the stress during the tensioning of cables, stress during installation and maintenance and possibility of cable collapse is assessed. Also tension of cables is assessed. Parametric study is conducted after the assessment in order to determine suitability of using above-strength steel for this construction. For comparison were used steel grades S235J0, S355J2, S450J0 and S460. Parametric study carried out was based on price and steel consumption point of view. The study includes an assessment of the maximum utilization of elements and 80% utilization of elements.
