Abstract

The manufacturing process of Molybdenum wire in OSRAM Bruntál ltd. is based on long experience transferred from OSRAM Schwabmünchen within processing of molybdenum and its alloys. Long-term vision of Molybdenum wire production in Bruntál is continuous decreasing of costs by production process optimization. One of the ways how to achieve this target is process change in order to decrease net production time as well as direct costs. Submitted thesis is focusing on molybdenum wire properties within whole manufacturing process. Based on the trial results is proposed process improvement. After several measurements within first drawing with annealing of molybdenum wire on diameter 0,208 mm was proven positive impact of increased temperature by 250 degrees Celsius on material plasticity. By temperature increase on first annealing is possible to avoid second annealing on 0,100mm diameter along with favorable plastic properties for next drawing process. Mechanical properties and wire microstructure are retaining on the same level as in original process set up.
