Abstract
This diploma thesis focuses on the preparation of zinc oxide (ZnO)-based nanomaterials and their composites with graphene oxide (GO) using a homogeneous hydrolysis method. The aim of the study is to evaluate their suitability as photocatalysts for the degradation of the organic pollutant methyl parathion in aqueous media. The synthesized materials were characterized by XRD, BET, and SEM techniques. Photocatalytic activity was assessed based on the degradation kinetics under UV-A irradiation. Both the efficiency of degradation and the formation of intermediate products were monitored. ZnO/GO composites demonstrated higher photocatalytic performance compared to pure ZnO. The results indicate the potential of these materials for application in the removal of persistent organic contaminants from water environments.
