Abstract

Abstract This bachelor thesis deals with differences between a local annealing of mounting weld joint and annealing in a furnace. The difference between these types of annealing is that the annealing furnace heat is applied on the side of the weld root too, thereby insuring a thorough heating of the weld joint and its annealing. In case of local annealing, that is being used for mounting welded joints, the heat is being applied from the outside only. The side of root weld joint may not be sufficiently annealed and its hardness can be different from the hardness of annealed surface. This may result in material cracking during operation at a higher compressive stress and heat. Vulnerable are in particular mounting welded joints on pipelines where a possibility of a chimney effect and its flowing air may remove the heat that is necessary for throughout annealing.
