Abstract

This thesis discusses the evaluation of effects of the accession of Bulgaria and Romania to the European Union. The work is divided into three main chapters. The first part focuses on the characteristics of both countries an their integration requirements. It describes what were the economic an political conditions in the CMEA. The second part discusses the transition process to a market economy in Bulgaria and Romania, which was mainly in the 90s difficult. Explains the relations between the two neighbouring states and why it is important to cooperate with each other. Then there is depicted several years of the accession of eastern European countries into the EU and also there are enumerated international organization which Bulgaria and Romania are members of. The third and final part analyzes what have been the effects of accession to the European integration. How have macroeconomic indicators and international trade in the countries changed through the years. And describes the benefits of European funds which Bulgaria and Romania receive as the less developed countries of the EU.
