Možnosti zpracování odpadů s obsahem prionů

Abstract

This work presents the general overview of the prion diseases that affect humans and animals as well as the technical processing of animal waste which is contaminated by prions. The work itself is composed of several chapters. The first part is focused on the description of the physiological cellular protein PrPC and its conversion into the pathological prion PrPSc. Deadly prion diseases that affect both humans and animals, their origin and the manifestations of these diseases, their symptoms, and the ways of transmission are described in the second chapter. The third part concentrates on the processing of waste contaminated by prions and on the preventive measures adopted in the Czech Republic concerning BSE. Moreover, it comprises statistical evaluation of the situation of BSE in the Czech Republic and in the world. Finally, the thesis describes the technology of animal waste processing in the sanitation company AGRIS Mankovice.
