Abstract

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe and analyze the development of competitiveness level in the Czech Republic in the years 2000-2008, depending on the accession the European Union and the adoption of the Lisbon Strategy. This development is described in selected macroeconomic indicators and show on the comparison between the periods before and after the adoption of the Lisbon strategy. Bachelor thesis is divided into the five chapters. The first chapter is introduction. The second chapter briefly describes the development of the EU through the adoption of the Lisbon strategy and the theoretical background for the further application of the Lisbon strategy. The third chapter describes the results of the Czech Republic competitiveness measuring in international comparison and defined objectives for the Lisbon Strategy in the Czech Republic. The fourth chapter assesses the implementation of the Lisbon objectives in the transnational and national level, outlines the practical implications for the Czech Republic and provides recommendations of the EU the Czech Republic in the future. The fifth chapter assesses the results achieved.
