Abstract
This bachelor's thesis addresses the issue of location accuracy for devices connected to a mobile network, a topic of increasing relevance in the context of public safety and emergency services. The aim of the thesis is to compare location information obtained via mobile network connection with data from satellite positioning systems (e.g., GPS), within the same time frame. For this purpose, an experiment was designed and implemented, involving data collection across various operational modes, different mobile operators, and multiple generations of mobile networks.
The thesis includes the development of a set of applications for data collection and evaluation, along with a detailed description of their implementation. The collected data is analyzed using scenario-based evaluations that include maps, tables, and graphs. Based on these analyses, conclusions are drawn regarding the accuracy and reliability of individual localization methods. The thesis also outlines potential directions for further research and practical applications.
