Abstract

This diploma thesis deals with the basic characteristics of metallic foams. The first part of the thesis focuses on development trends, properties, field of application. Great emphasis is placed on individual manufacturing methods and technologies, especially for metallic foams with regular structured layout. The second part, which is already a practical part and is divided into two sections. It deals with the production of castings made of aluminum alloys under laboratory conditions. It describes the process of producing metal foams with one particular foundry technology. The second half of the practical part deals with simulation analysis for heat flow in order to obtain the most efficient heat exchanger.
