Abstract
This thesis deals with the design, implementation, and verification of a communication link between the B\&R X20 control system, the ABB REX640 protection relay, and the ABB 800xA supervisory system using the IEC 61850 standard. The aim is to verify the feasibility of integrating the B\&R platform into a communication architecture commonly used in ABB-based applications. The theoretical part summarizes the principles of IEC 61850, its data model, the MMS and GOOSE communication services, and the SCL configuration language. The practical part focuses on the creation and integration of configuration files, compilation of the resulting SCD file, and communication setup in the relevant engineering tools. Verification focuses on GOOSE communication between the REX640 relay and the B\&R system, and on MMS communication between the B\&R system and ABB 800xA. The result is a functional laboratory solution confirming the feasibility of using the B\&R platform within the IEC 61850 architecture.
