Abstract

Women and men aren´t naturally same, their life roles and preferences are different. But their opportunities especially in the labour market should be the same and sex shouldn´t be important. The aim of this thesis is to identify and assess factors that affect the wage gap between men and women in the Czech Republic. This thesis used descriptive analysis of data from the Czech Statistical Office. Because woman works less hour then men, spend less time and working overtime, more often use of part-time work and temporary contracts of employment and less commuters to work than men, their wages may be lower. The wage gap can be significantly affected by the high concentration of men in jobs that are well-paid. In conclusion, attention is given to selected regions of the Czech Republic.
