Abstract
The presented thesis is conceived as a methodical guide for individuals in the Czech Republic who are starting a sole proprietorship. The first section deals with the history of business, highlights its significance for society and points out important rules of law. The second section describes different available legal arrangements for a company and compares them from the perspective of time and financial consumption. The third section focuses on the Proprietorship Law and obligations implied by it. It also compares the level of the Starting a Business indicator in the Czech Republic and other countries of the world. The next section explains the obligations of new entrepreneurs towards the state administration and other institutions. The last section evaluates present possibilities to decrease the administrative onus when starting sole proprietorship. It presents a brief outline of state projects aimed to simplify and make more effective the performance of the public administration.
