Změna politického režimu v závislosti na ekonomické úrovni země

Abstract

In this bachelor thesis the main issue is relationship between economic level of the country and political regime. With usage of avaible empirical studies, the trend of individual political regimes is being described. In some cases change of the political regime is based on higher economic level. This obtained knowledge is strenghtened by descriptive analysis of GDP per capita in 1960-2018 period for sample of 15 countries that faced the third democratization wave. For some of these is obvious that there may be some development trend. Moreover most of them demonstrated the fact that the change of political regime occurred when GDP per capita values were getting near by 3 000 USD and more. The next step is based on analysis of relationship between GPD per capita and Polity5 index, that is being used for rating of authoritative elements of the certain countries. The results of this analysis approved the findings of descriptive analysis. Every single country has it´s own level of economic development connected with transition to democracy but countries that are culturally similar are showing similar results. The final correlation of the researched indexes of economic growth and political regime demonstrated that political regime could have positive effect on economic growth, but also economic growth could bet the driving force of liberalization and democratization.
