Abstract
This submitted thesis is dealing with the importance of phenotyping in the taxonomy of yeast microorganisms. The first chapter of this thesis is devoted to the definition of yeasts, their morphology, cytology, reproduction and taxonomic classification. The next part of the thesis is devoted to methods of phenotyping of yeasts, including a description of classical and modern methods for their identification and significance of antimicrobial agents in addition to their biochemical characteristics. The experimental part of this thesis is devoted to verify the effect of selected antibiotics on pure cultures of two yeasts microorganisms Saccharomyces cerevisiae CCM8191 and Candida albicans CCM8215 and verify the growth of these yeasts to selectively - diagnostic medium CHROMagarTM.
