Abstract
The usability of thin-walled rolled profiles not only in the construction industry certainly has its significant justification and a wide range of applications. Typical examples in the construction industry are roofing systems for hall buildings, lightweight envelope constructions or structural solutions for housing in single-family houses and multi-storey apartment buildings. A wide range of applications can also be found in connection with shed buildings, namely in systems for modular storage and logistics, specifically in racking structures, which are the subject of the present thesis.
The main advantages of the use of thin-walled profiles are the speed of assembly in relation to the very precise workshop processing of the individual structural elements, the low weight, which allows easy handling, material savings, strength or rigidity and the economic aspect of lower construction costs.
On the other hand, the main disadvantage can be perceived as the relatively complex static behaviour of thin-walled structures, from which the complexities and specificities of design and assessment derive. Among the main problems is the slenderness of the structural elements, which significantly affects the resistance to specific types of stresses. The importance of the detailing of the connection points of the various parts of the structure, which also affect the final load-bearing capacity, cannot be overlooked.
The thesis deals with the static analysis of the detail of the load-bearing frame structure of racking systems made of cold-formed thin-walled profiles.
The first part of the thesis focuses on a general introduction to the subject and a survey of current standards for the design of steel structures, numerical calculations and software solutions. The subsequent analysis was carried out on the example of real frame structures of racking systems, considering selected types of diagonal connections to the frame rack.
The work included a standard analytical design of the selected structure according to the valid standards for design of racking systems, in particular CSN EN 1993-1-3 and CSN EN 15512+A1. The global analysis was carried out in Dlubal RSTAB 8.32 and Scia Engineer 22.1 software. For the automated standard assessment of the rack structure, a computational application was created in the Visual Basic for Applications scripting language.
The standard analytical calculation was complemented by a detail analysis of the diagonal connection to the frame rack in Ansys Workbench software.
