Abstract

The Diploma Thesis deals with a potential removal of selected metals from mine water by means of ash originating from plant biomass combustion. The mine water is from the locality of Zlaté Hory and the ash from the Krnov Heating Plant where, apart others, a biomass boiler is used to produce heat and warm water. The ash sample was sized into selected grain-size classes. The characteristics of the individual ash grain-size classes were specified by means of the iodine values and BET isotherms. The grain-size classes were used to eliminate selected metals from mine water and consequently, the obtained results were compared with those acquired when activated coal had been used.
