Abstract

This thesis is focused on the creation of an information collection system for purposes of streamlining a maintenance department in an industrial company. This information collection system will be used for rectifying production events which have a negative impact on production results. The purpose of this thesis is to create a system for gathering and processing data which contains key production events. This information will be recorded, processed and evaluated using a relational database in Microsoft Access. The introduction of this thesis explains the benefits of such an information collection system in an industrial company. Subsequent chapters analyse the collected data and formulate a proposal for the implementation of a suitable information collection system. The conclusion evaluates the implementation of the system and its impact on productivity.
