Abstract

This diploma thesis focuses on the optimization of the DC electromagnet for OEZ s.r.o. At the beginning, the problematic of solving magnetic fields and magnetic circuits with air gap is summarized. Afterwards, the direct current electromagnets are discussed and possibilities of modifying the static force characteristics are considered. The optimization itself is performed using the finite element method in Ansys Maxwell. The required model of electromagnet is also created in this software. The model is verified with measurements. The optimization includes a material, a dimension change of the magnet and a shape modification of the pole piece and the armature. Another part of this chapter describes the investigation of the dynamics characteristics of the given magnet. This analysis is performed in Ansys Simplorer. Magnet prototypes are manufactured and measured according the modified models.
