Abstract

This diploma thesis focuses on the financing of public transport services in the regions of the Czech Republic in the period 2020–2023. The aim is to analyse the amount and structure of regional expenditures on public transport and to identify the factors influencing these expenditures. The theoretical part defines key concepts related to public transport, regional budgeting, and the legislative framework for transport services. The practical part uses quantitative analysis based on data from public databases and regional budget reports. Expenditures are assessed both in absolute terms and in relation to population size, area, number of municipalities, and the length of transport infrastructure. Correlation analysis is used to examine the relationships between expenditures and selected indicators. The results show that the level of regional transport expenditures is influenced by a variety of factors, particularly population size, area, number of municipalities, and the extent of transport infrastructure.
