Abstract
This diploma thesis is focused on the photometric properties of LED and their dependence on temperature. In the introduction of this thesis are the characteristics of the light sources used in the automotive industry. Further the description of the basic optical principles and their application in the design of the headlights and rear lights for the desired optical output. The measurement of the LED was carried out in cooperation with Varroc Lighting Systems Ltd. The photometric values were measured by an integrating sphere, the temperature by a thermal camera. The method has been proved sufficiently accurate, even though the dependences were compared with catalog data presenting the junction temperature of LED. This measurement procedure can be useful for the upcoming projects of Varroc Lighting Systems company. In total, we can say that during the comparison only one LED was detected as inadequate to the manufacturer´s LED documentation.
