Abstract
This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the possibilities of increasing the ballistic resistance of Kevlar layers using alternative methods, specifically additive manufacturing by means of 3D printing. The aim of the thesis is to experimentally verify the influence of specially designed and 3D-printed structures and materials on the behavior of Kevlar fabric when impacted by a projectile fired from a short-barreled firearm. Particular attention is paid to the degree of deformation, the nature of damage, and the ability to distribute and absorb the impact energy. The theoretical part of the thesis addresses the principles of ballistics, ballistic protection, and 3D printing. The practical part includes the design, production, and combination of selected materials and structures with a Kevlar layer, followed by ballistic testing. Based on the obtained results, the potential of individual variants to enhance the effectiveness of a ballistic protective element is evaluated.
