Abstract

The bachelor's thesis focuses on the issue of post-consumer PET waste processing through microbial degradation. Naming the risks and impacts associated with mishandling PET waste. It informs about the current methods of processing PET waste and about the perspectives and possibilities that microbial degradation can provide in solving the environmental crisis caused by plastic pollution. It provides an overview of ongoing research and studies that investigate the possibilities of using enzymatic hydrolysis in industry, improving the efficiency of enzymes by modifying their structure, as well as research into the use of enzymes in biotechnology to remove ecological burdens from the environment.
